Office 2007 Beta 2

I’m posting this entry from Word 2007 Beta 2, mainly to test blogging ability. I’ve switched to the Vista theme which matches the windows style I’ve been using all along (black glass), so it looks all pretty. The first thing you notice is the toolbar across the top which has been completely redesigned. Instead of the bands we’ve all gotten used to, there are squares for different sections such as font, colors, styles, etc. Above the squares, the drop-down menus have been replaced with tabs. So far it’s been pretty easy to use, but I’m wondering if all the menu options have really been migrated to this new system.
I briefly tried Outlook 2007 and met some good features but a major bug prevents me using with my work email (the only place I use Outlook). I’ll start with the bug: a few emails wouldn’t show the body of the message. I figure fine they’re working out some issues, but I go back to my email in Outlook 2003 and find a couple messages that are now blank in 2003 too. So aside from corrupting some messages, I do like being able to see calendar and tasks on the side of email now.
There are betas for every part of office, even products such as Visio and Project, so it’s a good chance to try the latest in products you wouldn’t normally have access to.
